Question
Hi Garry:

I have a classic amp from 75 I purchased when in Hawaii in the Army. I never had a problem with it till about 3 or 4 years ago.  I sent it to a local independent dealer they charge me $90 cleaned the inside of the cabinet but didn't fix the problem needless to say I didn't return to that business.
I have a problem with my left channel and it seems to cut out or has static.  I try some lubricant spray thinking it was in the controls just corrosion but this didn't help.  It seems to be cutting out when the protect circuit I can hear click on.  I have good sound in the right channel but sometimes a slight tap on the top of the amp cabinet can luckily make the left channel activitate for a while but then will cut out.  I really like the amp and if you could give me some direction in the repair or who in my immediate can make these repairs (S.California).  I'm willing to pay for getting these repairs done because I like the amp so much and have a fondness for it.  Sorry I couldn't be more specific but I'm not that familiar with electronic functions.  It basically the left channel has some malfunction problems.  Thanks Garry and have a nice Day
Danny

Answer
sounds like maybe 2 problems......the controls need to be cleaned with a good quality lube type control/contact cleaner, you might have many failing solder connections. first, i'd take it back where you took it and demand some satisfaction. then, try somewhere else. i'm in s.e. va and don't know anyone out west....sorry.
