Audio Systems/Radio looking for CD

Question
I have a 1995 Ford factory AM/FM/CD that after a CD is ejected keeps periodically looking for a CD.  The radio stops working then you hear buzzing sounds from the CD for a short time then the radio comes back on.  It keeps this cycle going for days after the CD has been ejected and will eventually stop.  Any idea of what the problem might be?  Is it electronic or mechanical?

Answer
both electronic and mechanical...in a 10 year old unit, the drive belts or gears have gotten worn, causing the switches that tell the system control portions where the loading mechanisim physically is are out of alignment, causing your symptoms. best reccommendation, replace it. you can spend upwards of $150 to fix it, i would never go that far on such an old unit......
