Audio Systems/Stereo shorted out

Question
I have a 2001 VW Jetta with a factory installed Monsoon stereo.  I am the only owner.  I took the car to have it detailed.  When I picked the car up the stereo was dead.  (It worked perfect when I dropped it off.)  I took it to a VW dealer for service and was told that the stereo was shorted out and I need a new one.  What would cause this?

When I picked up the car there was heavy condensation on the inside of the car windows.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Answer
Hi there, without having hands on I would say the detailers owe you a stereo, not only because the car wasn't dried properly, (heavy condensation)which has probable "buggered it up" (as we put it here) but they were the last ones to handle the car when the stereo was working.
