Audio Systems/Upgrade to factory FJ cruiser Radio, to my Rav4

Question
Dear Ernesto,

I recently bought a new OEM Factory Radio with Single CD Player, that belongs to the FJ Cruiser 2007. I first thought that the OEM Harnesses from my RAv4 2002 would be the same, however they wasn't. I previously had installed a Sony Radio, so I figured out all the power lines, illumination etc, and for the speaker out, i put new wires.
Anyway I got from the net the specs for the harness for my new radio, and built myself a custom harness. It worked. I got the illumination & power. For the sound I only connected the rear speakers output, since they where in a second harness, and the front spk were in the first harness together with all the power lines and stuff, so I didnt have much space, and also didn't thought that it should cause any troubles.
Anyway, the Radio itself works, I have good sound, but THE PROBLEM is with the CD/MP3 playback. I get no sound at all. The Radio plays the CD, it even recognizes the Title, Interpreter, etc. but I get nothing to the speakers?
Any Idea?
Best,
Jerome

Answer
MOST LIKELY the radio is turning of the amplifier when you put a cd most radios send power out to turn on amplifier and another power to open the electric antenna or power the antenna booster on the back window this work with 12 volts
this is for the radio only when you put a cd or tape  there is no need for antenna or booster  so this power turns off maybe you are using that wire in a wrong way

most of the toyota radios from 1992 to 2004 have the 10 pins and 6 pins power plugs  this are vehicles with 4 speakers
new toyota radios come with a 20 pin plug that needs to plug in to the factory amplfier

i am sorry i can not help you much  i have never seen the 2007 toyota radio i purchase one on ebay on monday it will be here next week  for me to play with it looks very nice and the text option is great i am trying for the radio to show text from an ipod or usb mp3 player

good luck
