Audio Systems/VW Passat 2003 Monsoon Stereo

Question
Hello,

I have a very strange problem.  I have a 2003 VW Passat with a premium monsoon sound system.  The CD player and radio works fine for some time and then stops working.  Initially it used to run when the car was in "park" but then stops 3 to 3 minutes after I start to drive the car.  But yesterday, it worked for about 15 minutes while I was driving and then stopped.  It is the same whether I am using the radio or the CD player.  Basically the whole thing gets stuck and I cannot change tracks or cannot change the band (if using the radio).  It has power, but when I press the next button nothing changes.  It is basically stuck.  If I turn off and turn the stereo back on, it works for 30 seconds and the gets stuck again.

I called 4 VW dealers and they do not have a clue what is happened and want $85 to just take a look at what is going on.

I am not sure if it is the stereo system or something else.  Also, if I get an after market system I am not sure if the steering sound controls (volume and seek buttons) would work.  I have a long commute and not having a stereo is make the commute even longer.

Thanks for your help

Answer
is a problem that we seen in the past the radio ttl cmost  gets stuck when hot  or confuse about any information from any button  that you use   this chip is not to expensive under $10.00 but it needs to be program and solder in to the board
any electronic technician is going to charge over 4200.00 labor just for that  there are about 68 pins and they are all very close ,also if you heat it much it burns    it will be best to replace the radio see if you can get one from www.oemautosound.com

you can also go after market the cd changer will stop working and the monsoon amplifier needs to be remove,
steering controls only work with oem radios
