Audio Systems/WIRING

Question
THIS ISN'T REALLY STEREO RELATED BUT IT INVOLVES WIRING
I HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHTS INSIDE MY CAR WITH DIFFERENT ONES
THE PROBLEM IS I WANT TO USE THE DOOR JAMB SWITCH
I BOUGHT 2 NEW ONES (2 TERMINAL)
I WIRED IT TO WHERE IT WOULD CUT OFF THE GROUND
BUT THE SWITCH IS METAL WHICH IS BOLTED TO THE BODY WHICH IN TURN BLOWS THE FUSE EACH TIME
I'VE ALSO TRIED THE POWER WIRE WHICH OBVIOUSLY DOES THE SAME THING
ANY SUGGESTIONS
WOULD A RELAY WORK?
thanks

Answer
Yo Leo,
All good to me mate,

Interior lights work by neg contact switches with the light permanently live, so all you need to do is a live feed from fuse box to light and an earth wire to each door, earth the door switch wire and it should work, (unless you blew the fuse of course).

On the switch. If the terminals are insulated from the body of the switch then wire into one terminal and ground the other. If the switch body is grounded as on a normal courtesy light switch and so is the terminal when the plunger is OUT then the wire to that terminal only.

12V  TO  LIGHT UNIT, LIGHT UNIT TO SWITCH / GROUND
Hope that helps, Pete
p.s. don't forget the feedback so I know how I did. Thanks
