Question
QUESTION: Have a 94 vette, for 13 yrs. Recently had installed stereo/cd/cassette player. Now, the SYS will not stop flashing. Have had back to stero store numerous times & to local chev. store, they have even coordinated their efforts to stop the flashing light. Their bottom line conclusion, today, was the light will continue to flash until I install a GM product. That's the way GM made/designed this 94 vette !!!  It's not that I do not believe them...do you have any other ideas? (this vehicle has only been serviced by dealerships and I am very surprised that I was not told this upfront).  This is a great site!  Thank you.

ANSWER: i own a 90 and replace the radio no problems
i believe we work on many vettes and i never have any problem
what is the SYS light ? where it is ?i never seen any light on  last wee we replace a radio on a 2000 with a pioneer and there was no problems

QUESTION: The SYS flashes to the immediate left of the odometer.
I did not even know there was anything there before.. other than fuel info !! The original radio/cassette player was removed and replaced with a Sanyo. The light SYS has been intermittently flashing for a month! I am told by GM store that the system is "searching" for a GM Delco system to connect to and since it is no longer connected, the light will continue to flash.  Seems nonsense/irrational to me--they are "the experts".  Needless to say, I am not happy with the situation at all & am looking for an economical way to have a radio/cassette/cd player.  Where are you physically located?  Thank you so much for your prompt response.

Answer
the radio in that vehicle was a 2 parts system the head unit and sometimes a small brain in the back called CDM
both of them need to be remove
also the power for the radio comes from the CDM
so it is best to get power from the ignition or any other power source NOT THE CDM    hope this help if not ill be here
this is a link of your stereo system from a friend in central florida  they only do repairs
