Question
I have a 98 Mercury Mountaineer. A year ago, the display started to go off and come on intermittently, until eventually it just didn't come on anymore at all.  Then, the cassette player started to eat my tapes.  Now, the cd player only has sound sometimes (it cuts in and out).  The radio still works fine (knock on wood!!!!)  I do notice the cd's are hot when I take them out of the cd player now.  I read on faqfarm.com that someone said to raise the resistors in the pwer supply or change the circuit board?  I know nothing about car stereos, and I read things about locks and anti-theft codes and stuff and I don't know what to do with any of it.  Please help me!!!!!

Answer
hello:
you can buy 4 new resistor from radio shack and replace them
it will work for a couple of months or a year
or you can change the board in 5 minutes this is the fix for the display only

you can buy the lcd board for $65.00 from this site
here is the link for the radio
