Question
my monsoon stereo in my passat just turned off. I took it to the dealership and they reset it, however it has done it again. So I took it back to vw and now they are saying the pins are bad and tho whole stereo needs to be replaced. Is there any alternatives? It is a 2002 model passat.... please help

Answer
Hi Jared,
It would be unusual for the pins to wear out unless the radio was in and out like a fiddler's elbow. but if they are damaged there is not a lot to be done.
Check out Ebay as a source of cheap replacements, just type in "Passat radio" and there are a few there.
