Question
I have a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis with
a factory installed am/fm/cd/casset player.
The problem is the am will not work any more.
If i turn up the volume i'll get a little
hissing noise.Every thing else works fine. Any
ideas?
Thanks in advance

Answer
sounds like the am front end got fried for some reason, maybe close proximity to a high powered radio transmitter of some type took it out. in all honesty, your best bet is to go to a local junkyard and get an exact replacement. best way is to pull your unit so you can be sure the numbers match up, otherwise you might face a wiring problem i'm sure you don't want to tackle. sorry there's not an easy fix, but there's so many things it could be. good luck...
