Question
Hi Garry,

Thanks for attempting to answer my question. I have a 1994 Toyota Camry that I bought used. FM radio works great, but I can't get stations on my AM dial. All I get is faint static. It's a basic Toyota radio, also has FM and a CD player.  If you have any ideas why, I would appreciate your knowledge. Thanks!

Paul

Answer
1- make sure antenna is firmly plugged in back of radio. 2- some stereos have an am antenna trim adjustment somewhere accessable without disassembling radio, but you will have to take radio out in order to adjust it. 3- most companies now put very little quality in their am circuitry, as most listen to fm now. 4- too much ignition noise will greatly reduce am sensitivity, and a good cause of this is cheap spark plug wires. i'd probably try a set of good supression type wires, this alone can make the most significant performance improvement, even increasing range of fm reception.   good luck.....
