Question
QUESTION: Hi there, I was just wondering if you can have dull but constant inner ear pain from allergies? and only on my left ear. Iv'e had x-rays done and checked out normal. I feel this bothersome pressure mostly waking me up in the mornings and evenings for like 6 months now. Now my right eyelid has been swollen for about 2 weeks, claritin or sudafed have not helped. Any ideas?? should I ask for an ultrasound or mri?

ANSWER: Hi Adri,
Have you had your eye checked out?  The ear and eye problems may be totally unrelated. Next, since this occurs in the morning, have you thought of being checked out by a dentist for Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ).  This disorder can cause inner ear pain and pressure.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: I have gone to the opthomologist and had eye exams where everything checks out ok, and now that I think about it had a deep cavity filled on my lower left molar, but what can they do about TMJ? maybe I have a damaged nerve?? Thanks alot. p.s this molar was worked on about 6 months ago that's about the same time iv'e been dealing with the ear problem.

Answer
Hi Adri,
You should return to your dentist.  It is possible that there is a relationship between the cavity and the ear pain especially since back molars are so close to the ear cavity. When there, you can discuss the possibility of TMJ and its treatments with your dentist as well.
Hope this helps.
