Audiology/Otolaryngology/Pain in ear following perforated ear drum

Question
Both of my eardrums were perforated two months ago, following a course of antibiotics I assummed everything had healed nicely. However, over the past couple of weeks I am having persistent pain in the ear that had the most discharge.  It is becoming very uncomfortable and was wondering if this is normal?

Answer
Hi Linda,
Sorry you're in pain.  No, this is not normal and very possibly the ear may have become reinfected, especially if the perforation has not healed. You need to return to an ear specialist and have him check it out.
Hope this helps.
