Question
Hello,
I read your description and noticed you specialize in special needs for
musicians.  Well, I am a music, saxophonist, and have been playing for
several years.  However, I took the past few years away from music for, well,
I guess life situations...anyway, I am now getting back into the flow of things
again and ever since I began practicing again I've been experience extreme
sinus pressure, especially around my ears.
I am currently taking Claritan and Nasonex for allergies, but still the
pressure on the sinus'.  I am definitely thinking about seeing an ENT, but in
the meantime, is there any thing I could do to relieve this pressure.  Please
advise.
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Bryan,
From what you have described, this sounds more like a Eustachian tube issue than just simple sinus pressure.  The ET runs very close to the sinuses and any inflammation of the sinuses can cause inflammation in the ET.  You should certainly see an ENT about this.  Until you do, you can try some saline spray in your nose which can reduce swelling.  Here is a great site that will give you some insight into the function of the Eustachian Tube: http://www.bcm.edu/oto/grand/71196.html
Hope this helps.
