Question
Hello: I am worried about some dizziness I have had, usually in short spells. I started having the spells and thought they may be just an ear thing. But, I get dizzy after or during masturbation/sex. I feel it may be blood pressure. Upon some spells I get beep or sound in my ear for a second or two. I am so scared it may be my heart. If it were my heart, what condition could it be and what treatments are there?  I obsess and worry this may be fatal. ---James 45 y.o. white male

Answer
Hi James,
There are many causes of dizziness.  Inner ear problems can result in dizziness.  So can rapid changes (up or down) in blood pressure, rapid breathing/hyperventilation, oxygen deprivation, and hormonal changes. If you are concerned, the best thing for you to do is consult with your physician and have a complete physical, including an EKG.  You can then follow-up with an ENT.
Hope this helps.
