Question
My son is 5 and he is complaining about automatic flush toilets, he always cover his ears, even if he is not using it, just the noises from the others toilets, he says that he feels his ears up and down, and now he doesn't want to go to school because they have that kind of toilets, he is fine with other loud sounds like mowers, airplanes, blenders.

Answer
Hi Marcela,
Many time, children who have a sensitivity to sounds have some type of hearing impairment.  You need to see an audiologist and a pediatric ENT and have a complete evaluation done on your child's hearing. If his hearing is okay, and it is only the sound of toilets, then there may be another issue at hand, especially since he is refusing to go to school.  It may not be the sound of the toilets that is bothering him.
Hope this helps.
