Audiology/Otolaryngology/Fluttering and sharp pain in ears

Question
Hi, I have been swimming for several months but have stopped due to an ear problem. I hear fluttering in my ear or ears at times, sharp pain like lighting shots thru one ear, I've had vertigo once, and when I pulled my ear outward at the lobe it stopped. When I bend down to pick something up off the floor, I get light headed.I have no blood pressure problem. (67/113) I brush and floss regularly but my gums at the bottom of my teeth look like someone has hacked at them, so I am using a water pick which usually helps subside the irritation. They're bleeding some too as they are sensitive. My tongue seems swollen on one side and the little thing that attaches your tongue  that has 2 little humps look like one has blood in it. Help!

Answer
Dear Beverly,
You have a lot of things going on. You state your BP is 67/113...that is not normal.  Do you mean 113/67 maybe?  With bleeding gums, and two possible "blood" clots and a swollen tongue, you need to see a doctor to check for a blood or related problem.  Circulatory problems can cause all of your mentioned symptoms.
Hope this helps.
