Audiology/Otolaryngology/Stopped Up Ears

Question
My ears stop up on me any time that I am involved in physical activity.  For example: They stop up when I am walking to school in the morning, and this will stop once I am inside the building for a minute.  Also, this happens when I am working out at the gym. I feel like I am "trapped" and can hear my voice echo inside my head when I talk. I don't really have problems with this in other situations.

What should I do?

Answer
Hi Brooklyn,
It seems like you may have a Eustachian Tube Dysfunction.  Based on your symptoms, it may be triggered by allergies or sinus inflammation.  These symptoms seem to subside when you are no longer outside or when you are resting.
I would suggest that you consult an ENT and get a complete evaluation.  If indeed you do have sinus inflammation or allergies, he can prescribe appropriate treatment.
Hope this helps.
