Question
i'm completely deaf in 1 ear and in addition, have relocated form europe to usa at age 10 and had to learn a new language; i also had slight stuttering due to social anxiety, so i noticed at age 30 that i have certain pronunciation problems and come off immature and childlike in way i speak and sound during simple conversation due to pattern, tone, style and general speech, and i wonder if i may benefit from speech therapy to correct certain things that were not corrected in childhood or correct some bad habits i picked up along the way, could you explain how i can proceed with assessment and seeking help?

Answer
Hi JR,
Yes, you most likely will benefit greatly from speech therapy.  I suggest that you look up this site: http://asha.org/proserv/ and find a speech-language pathologist in your region that specializes in voice and stuttering and/or accent modification.  You may even find an SLP who speaks your native language which would be helpful. Many of them do take insurance if you have it.
Hope this helps.
