Question Hello,
I blew my nose a little hard on Friday evening, and had sudden 'clogged' and stuffy feeling in my right ear, with a ringing sensation that hasn't left for 3 days. It's starting to be annoying. Saw an ENT monday (today) and he just said it's congested and had me take Mucinex D and gave me an antibiotic. (amoxicillin)
I'm just looking for some assurance that this tinnitus will go away eventually and my ears aren't being damaged by all this.
Wayne
Answer Hi Wayne,
I'm sorry, but I cannot give you any reassurance that the tinnitus will go away. It may or it may not.
I strongly suggest that you return to the ENT and have a complete audiological evaluation to find out the cause of the tinnitus. Once you know that, there are many treatments that, although they will not "cure" the tinnitus, will make it much easier to tolerate. I suggest you read this site of the American Tinnitus Association: www.ata.org.
Hope this helps.
