Audiology/Otolaryngology/hearing loss

Question
I started experiencing hearing loss in my right ear after a cold.  I would wake up in the morning with hearing loss, it would clear after an hour.  At this point, the loss is constant and I would describe the feeling as congested.  This has gone on for about a month and I have had a cold since the first one a month ago.  I have tried ear wax removal systems as well, to no avail.

Answer
Hi Peter,
Sounds as if you may have Eustachian Tube dysfunction which could lead to fluid buildup and possible infection in the middle ear, if this has not already happened. You need to consult and ear specialist who can look in the ear and see if there is any fluid.  As well, your hearing and middle ear need to be evaluated by an audiologist to see the extent of the loss.
Hope this helps.
