Question
My right ear pops a lot.(the same sensation you get on an airplane) At night when I'm sleeping mucus is so thick running into my throat that it wakes me up! I feel like I'm choking! I have a light humming in my ears to the point that I can't sleep, when I sleep on my right side I don't hear the humming as much, but, when I sleep on my left side I hear the humming louder, I keep sinus infections all the time, I use to get lot of wax build up in my ears, not so much anymore, I had a MRI it was fine, and I've had a hearing tested, hearing was with in the normal range, why do
I have this humming and pressure in my ears? and  its tender to the touch around the cheekbones under my eye area.

Answer
Hi Patricia,

Tenderness around the cheekbones and under the eye is very often due to sinus inflammation. Since any sinus disorder may also affect the ears, most likely, once this is treated and resolved, your symptoms will subside.

An ENT is the specialist that deals with sinus disorders.  Is this the specialist you consulted about your ears?  If not, then you need to consult one.  If you have, and he didn't check your sinuses, then you may need to find a new ENT.

Hope this helps.
