i have had a ringing in my ears for the last month, it started in the right ear and it had a fast rythmic sound almost like a computer, as time went on i had another flat tone also. and now i hear it in the other ear as well. i can't think of any niose truama that i have had to cuse this. one doctor gave me a nasal setriod, that did, nothing, then  they said i had fluid in the ears, gave me antibiotic, that did nothing, went to an ENT and have a hearing test in a week, i feel as if i am going crazy, my whole life is on hold, i can't sleep or function properly, prior to this i am pretty healhty, i never take pills for anything. can you give me some advice on what is going on?

Answer
Hi Vincent,
There are just so many different causes of tinnitus, that I would not even venture to guess without at least more information.

There are many drugs that cause tinnitus, as well as nerve damage in the ears, as well as diabetes, high blood pressure, certain tumors, fluid, etc., etc.

My advice is to wait and see what the test results are and discuss it with your ENT.

In the meantime, you may wish to check out the website for the American Tinnitus Association www.ata.org.

Hope this helps.
