Question
what is external auditing?

Answer
Dear Afrill Lito,

Thank you for contacting me.

External auditing is the process through which and auditor, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), provides a reasonable assurance as to the reasonability of the information contained in the financial statements.

The external auditor issues an opinion regarding an organization following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Although the auditor certifies the reasonability of the information reflected in the financial statements, management is responsible for the information contained therein.

Only publicly traded companies are required to have financial statements audited by independent auditors. Private companies opt to have audits because the board of directors or management want to have a third party verification of their affairs.

I wish you success in your endeavors.

Sincerely,
