Question
Who can request an audit? Can i request this on an ex spouse personally or do i have to have it done by court order for child support reasons?

Answer
Dear Linda,

Thank you for contacting me and I am sorry I could not get back with you sooner.

With respect to your question, my best suggestion is that you hire a forensic accountant to determine if your ex-spouse is hiding assets from you. Forensic accountants perform a review of financial records such as bank statements, business and public records that allow them to gather some facts and infer a conclusion.

Some times it is worth to pursue a forensic investigation because the "cheating" spouse schemes can be uncovered and justice is brought through a court proceeding.

I might direct you better if you give me additional facts, obviously not through a public posting. Feel free to e-mail me at: info@fraudawareness.org and I will help you seek useful advice.

I wish you success in your endeavors and don't give up on your rights and your children's rights.

Do me a favor, grade my response, please!

Sincerely,

Consuelo Herrera, CAMS, CFE.
