Question
Hi Mick,

My wife and I are intending to spend 6 months in Austalia as of next year. We will continue to do so for the next couple of years. Are we allowed to buy a 4WD and a caravan in Australia to spend 6 months travelling Australia. My wife grew up in Adelaide and since 2000 we have been 8 times to Australia on a holliday with a motorhome.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Answer
Jacques:
No problem puchasing a 4wd vehicle and caravan.  There are companies in Sydney that specialize in selling vehicles to tourists and then buying them back when the tourist leaves the country.  You need to check the visa requirements, most tourist visa's are only good for three months so you might need to leave for a few days to renew the visa.  If you wife is an Australian citizen that might not be necessary.
