Hi Mick,

I am travelling to Australia in May and plan to travel in a campervan across the west and centre of the country. What I want to know is:

- Would a campervan be suitable for travelling from Perth, up the west coast through Broome, on to Darwin, down through Uluru to Adelaide. If so would you recommend buying or renting?

- Roughly how long would this journey take (in order to appreciate everything along the way).

I would like to be able to do this in 6 to 8 weeks but I'm not sure if this is too ambitious? I appreciate any advice or links you can provide me.

There are too many variables for me to answer your question exactly.  I would suggest you check out www.auinfo.com/distancecalc.html.  This site gives you the ability to compare different routes with suggestions for an itinerary and approximate driving times.  You then need to factor in stops for signtseeing, exploring, etc.  If you purchase a campervan, you then need to factor in the purchase and registration, licensing and insurance and resale times.
If you need help arranging for a rental, please let me know. I can do that for you at the same cost as trying to do it yourself.
