Question
G'day Frank!

How are ya? Just asking for your advise if thats alright?

Me and my mate are living in Perth at the moment and are really keen to head over to QLD to live for a year or so, at the moment the big problem is finding a place to call home. We're both 20 and we're both really over the fast city life at the moment, so we're looking for a small coastal town...nothing too small - 15-20,000population. We want sun, sand, surf - beach is important, nice ppl, young ppl, laid back vibe with a couple clubs here n there to party, any idea of a few towns we could check out?

Cheers

Ash

Answer
G'day Ash,
I am great thanks and I am happy to help.
To find a place that has "sun, sand, surf - beach is important, nice ppl, young ppl, laid back vibe with a couple clubs here n there to party" is a tall order. However, 2 towns come to mind. Nambour is my first choice. Has a population of about 15,000, is less than 15 minutes to sun, sand, surf - beach and night clubs . There may be a night club in Nambour, but I am not sure. Nambour is close to the beaches of Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Alexander Headlands. Noosa would be less than an hour away as well.

I think Nambour would be as close as you would get for the things you want.

The other town is Cooroy, but it has a population of about 3,000, so it may be too small. It is however very laid back.

Another town, but not in Queensland, is Bryon Bay. 1t is about an hour from the border of Queensland, and about 2 hours from Brisbane. It would also suit your needs.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Frank

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
