Question
Hi, my name is Kenny Ray. I am planning to move to Australia for at least one year (depending on the experience i get maybe longer). I live and love the small town of St. Augustine, FL USA that i am from so i want to move to a sort of small town on the beach in Australia. a friend of mine told me that Perth, Australia is a great place to go but i dont want to move to a tourist town... i already live in one of those. i am 22 and i love going out and having fun at bars. if you could give me you opinion on where a great place to go live for a year would be i would be very thankful!

Answer
G'day Kenny,
I hope your move to Australia goes well. I have been to Perth, and really enjoy the city, I would not suggest you go there.

To find a place close to the beach that is not a tourist town is near impossible.

The 2 towns that come to mind are less than 10 kn  inland from the beach are Nambour and Cooroy. Both nice towns, small, and ares till close to the bars of Mooloolaba and Maroochydore which are on the Sunshine Coast.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
