Question
I am travelling from Seattle to Sydney and Adelaide and then on the Brisbane. I will be leaving Seattle Feb 24 and arriving Brisbane the 5th of March and leaving on the 10th. I would love to see the great Barrier Reef but we don't have too much time.  Could you give me some tips on where to go and where to stay and what to see. Do you know how far it is to the Reef from Brisbane or other cities that might be within driving distance? I am particularly interested in snorkeling so if you know any good spots I would love to hear about them. Thanks in advance for your help. Janice

Answer
Hi Janice,
I just opened my email as your email arrived.

The time frame you have  does not leave you much time to see the reef, however, it can still be done.  I suggest you go to Lady Elliot Island, which is the closest part of the reef to Brisbane. You can get a small plane and can land you on the island, giving you time to stay there a night or just do a day trip.  I hope this helps.  There is good snorkeling at Lady Elliot Island

Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
