Question
QUESTION: hi i will study at an Australian university in Melbourne for 2 years and my question is if i can drive in Australia with my Vietnamese driving license?

ANSWER: Hi Hai -

The Vietnamese drivers license must be in English and valid throughout your stay in Australia.  If not, you will have to apply for a Driver's License in Victoria.

QUESTION: thanks a lot for your quick reply

However, i have my Vietnamese driving license in Vietnamese, is there a way for me to make it in English? I mean Either can i translate it into English using a translation service here in Vietnam and get it verified by Vietnamese authorities? Or can i take my license to Australia and get it translated by an Australian service?
Regards,
Hai

Answer
the license can be translated into English, and you then have to carry both licenses on you.  Its important to remember that you can only drive on an English license while holding a student visa, any other visa requires you to get an Australian license.
