Australia/Australia in August- Hot & Chic?

Question
Dear Mick,
We arrive in Sydney on 22 august, and return to the UK on the 8th
September. Can you suggest nice , Chic hotels suitable for two adults and an
18 & 20 year old daughter?
We are looking for the best weather we can get, so envisage going over to
Port Douglas and the area around there. Is the Gold Coast too cool in August
to sunbathe and enjoy? Is it windy= too windy to charter a sailing boat? Are
hotels like Peppers of a good standard?  Qualia looks very nice but I fear is
out of our budget, do you know of similar but slightly better value hotels?
Our key aims, are: Good Weather, chic hotels, people watching, sunbathing,
swimming and sailing!

Answer
G'day Chris,
You ask for " Chic hotels suitable for two adults and an
18 & 20 year old daughter" I would suggest you try the Quest chain of hotels. We have stayed in theier hotels in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and have found themn excellent.

The other place I would suggest is www.wotif.com It has all types of hotels to suit all budgets.

Gold Coast will be cool in August, and we quite often have westerley winds at the same time. If it was a clear day day with no winds, being from UK, I am sure you would find it ok. Port Douglas and Cairns would be perfect during August, and the better option.

If you wanted to go sailing, I would suggest the Whitsundays. It is a stunning place and would be perfect for sailing.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
