Australia/Oz work visa

Question
Hi,

I randomly came across this site on Google and spotted a few questions you have answered, I was hoping you could help me too.

I'm trying to move to OZ, Brisbane and right now I'm in the initial stages of planning what do do, how to do it and the type of visa I should go for.

I'm a recent (well 2 years ago) graduate with nearly 2 years project office to management experience at a global leading aerospace company BAe. I was wondering if I could go for a working visa when I first arrive and then promote to a sponsored visa?  I'm not sure how feasible this is, what the market is like, if employers are willing to take on people with working holiday visas or if they are eager to sponsor once over there.

Could you help clarify the above uncertainties and provide a bit of "best practice" information. I feel that because I'm not a trades person I'm at a lesser advantage of attaining sponsorship when over there, I get the impression trades people are in more need, is it the same for the professional stream?

Many thanks for taking the time to read this. I know you must get inundated with a plethora of questions every day. I really appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks again
Gill.
P.S sorry for rambling a bit ;0)

Answer
G'day Gill,
I agree with your comment "trades people are in more need".
I know to get a work visa, you have to be under 30, so I do not know if you qualify.

The Australian government web sites are the best option.

http://www.australia.gov.au/Working_in_Australia

Sponsorship is also covered at this website :-
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/

Other links that may help are :-

http://www.qld.gov.au/services_for_queenslanders/jobs_and_work/  http://www.australia.gov.au/  http://www.australia.gov.au/Jobseekers

I am sure you will find all the info you require at those web sites.  Queensland is in a boom at the moment are are in need of a lot of skilled workers and tradesmen.

Regards,
Frank

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
