Australia/East Coast

Question
Hi there,

I am traveling to Oz from mid-August until the end of September and plan on just seeing the east coast. First of all is there much to see between Sydney and Melbourne, would it be best to just travel from Cairns to Sydney and have more time or push to Melbourne?

Also what would you recommend as a required budget. I will hop to do a few excursion and either travel by bus & stay in hostels or else hire a camper van.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Maeve -

There is plenty to see on the east coast of Australia.  If I were you, I'd try to make the trip between Brisbane and Sydney, as there are some absolutely beautiful places to visit all along the North East coast of NSW.  You'll be able to find Hostels all along the east coast, so accommodation won't be a major expense.

When I traveled, I had a budget of $40-$50 AUD a day.
