Question
I met my "Soulmate" online. The problem is, He's in Brisbane and I'm in the US. I'm willing to relocate to "Oz" to be with the the man I fell in love with 4 years ago. I heard it was very hard for Non-Aussies to live there? If we married, would that help keep me there with him forever? I've planned a trip to meet my love in a few months. I'm hoping he can keep me there forever.

Answer
Hi Karen,
Sorry about my late response but I don't have internet access on weekends. My partners mother is american and has been living here for over 25 years after visiting Australia and falling in love. Once you a married it is not difficult to stay in Australia although my partners mother did decide to apply for Australian citzenship because she was still allowed to keep her America citzenship too and it meant she wasn't checked up on as regularly. I think it is more the work requirements that will kick in after a year or two depending on what visa you get that will affect your being able to stay moreso then the time limit aspect. This site: http://www.immi.gov.au/
is the best source of information as it is directly from our government so has the latest visa requirements and information on staying in Australia. Please let me know if I can help any further.
Megan :)
