About Frank Denison
Expertise
I have lived in Brisbane all my life (51 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience
I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.

Year 12 Secondary School

Australia - schools north side of Brisbane

Expert: Frank Denison - 4/16/2009

Question
Hi we are emigrating from SA and I will be working at the RBWH - we are looking for a school like North lakes State College, it is a bit far out what do you think? We have 1 girl and 3 boys. Are there any other schools like that around Brisbane? And what can you tell me about the surrounding area? Thank you

Answer
G'day Jacky,
North lakes is one of the new suburbs, only about 5 to 7 years old. North lakes has a big shopping complex and plenty of community activities. The only disadvantge to North Lakes is some (and only some) have small blocks of land, which puts houses very close together. I have heard no bad reports about the North Lakes State College.

North Lakes State College is a very modern school, and I am not sure if there are others like it in Brisbane. You will find collegs with similar amenities to North Lakes closer to the city, but they have very expensive fees. Two inner city colleges are Brisbane Boys Grammar and Churchie.

North Lakes to the RBH will take you between 30 to 45 mins, depending on what time of the day you are travelling. Bus and train are the 2 public transport options if you dont want to drive to RBH.  Brisbane is booming at the moment, and there is a lot infrastructure, road works and busways underway. When the roadworks and busways are finished, the traffic delays should reduce slightly.

We lived in Kallangur which is the suburb next to North Lakes, and it is also a good place to live. The other surrounding areas all have good names as well.

If you don't mind the travel, you will enjoy North Lakes. If you want less travel, look at Chermside, Lutwyche, Albion, Wooloowin, Windsor, Wilston Newmarket, Alderly Enoggera.

Regards,
Frank
