About Megan Expertise I can answer general questions on Australia (places to go, how to get around) I have lived in Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane so have extensive knowledge on those and surrounding areas. I have also been to Adelaide and Sydney a lot because family live there. I have been to all states EXCEPT Northern Territory and Western Australia. I have driven from Brisbane to Melbourne several times and know good stops etc. I have also travelled further north to Cairns and other coastal regions. Question My husband and I will be traveling to Australia in November 09 and are a bit overwhelmed
at the choices of Island to travel to. We are flying to Brisbane and caravaning it up the coast, destination unknown but only have about 9 days. We would like to stay a night on an island but want to know the best one to do so. We don't need a luxury resort and like adventure,

Answer I would highly recomend Fraser Island. It is beautiful and if you rent a 4wd then you can check out the whole island, drive on the beach. It has amazing sand dunes, beaches, lakes, bush walks etc. Plus it is only about 2 hours drive from Brisbane so you will have plenty of time to see other places as well. Another great island is Hamilton Island, more luxury then adventure though but still a lot of fun. Another popular island is Stradbroke Island but there isn't as much on Straddie as Fraser so I would recomend going to Fraser. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions :)
