Australia/thinking of moving to Qld

Question
Hi Frank,

My partner and I are considering moving to Qld, we currently live in Sydney and don't really like the busy lifestyle, we would much prefer a more relaxed life close to the beach.

I was hoping you could help us with a couple of questions. We were thinking it would be best to be somewhere near Brisbane for work opportunities, I am a psychologist and my partner is a carpenter. I was just wondering what the job market was like at the moment for the building industry?

We have started to look at houses but we have no idea what areas to look at, do you have any suggestions on the areas which are good for first home buyers?

Thanks for much for the help, looking forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,

Gabrielle

Answer
Hi Gabrielle,
The building industry in Brisbane is still very strong. With the first home owners grant being reduced, it has slowed a touch, but it is still ok.

I prefer the northside of Brisbane. I am not sure of your budget, but I will suggest areas that should cover all options. Like all cities, the closer to the centre, the more expensive it is.
Closest to the city, areas that I would suggest are - Albion, Wooloowin, Windsor, Wilston, New Farm.

Other suburbs, Northgate, Nundah, Toombul, Banyo, Lawnton, Bray Park,  Mitchelton, Enoggerra, Alderly. The Redcliffe areais about 40km's from Brisbane, and is a relaxed area which includes suburbs, Clontarf, Kippa Ring, Suttons Beach, Scarborough, Woody Point, Margate. Redcliffe also has a hospital and a private hospital.

If you need any more info, just contact me again.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
