I'm from the United States and I'm writing a school report on mining in Australia. I was wondering if you could tell me what you know about how mining affects Austalia's economy, what kind of minerals are mined there, and which other countries import these minerals. Thanks!

Hi Caroline,
           Coal and Iron Ore are the two main items mined in Australia. Some lead and zinc are also mined, but not the volume of coal and iron ore.

We export mostly to Asia, with Hong Kong, Japan and China the main countries.
