Australia/Great Barrier Reef

Question
Hi Frank:
I'm planning a trip to Australia/Queensland. I'm aware of what the Great Barrier Reef offers to swimmers/divers/snorkelers. However, I'm none of these. The only time I get in the water is in the shower! Given that, is it worth trying to see the GBR and, if so, what is the best way to do it?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Answer
G'day Larry,
You will still have a great opportunity to see the GBR. There are 3 options.
Glass Bottom boat, will give you a close view and is reasonably cheap. There is a mini submarine off Cairns that will also be good.

The other, but more expensive option is a plane or helicopter flight over the reef. It is SPECTACULAR.  A link to some of the flight operators - http://www.cairnsvisitorcentre.com/scenic_air_excursions.htm

if you can afford it, do the sub and the flight.

Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
