Question
Hello. I am not doing homework. I am 25 years old. I have never had any classes about culture slang. I know that I want to best write characters in books that are authentic. I know in America, we do not ride horses and yell 'yeeehah'.I live in the city and there are very few farms. I hope to best portray persons in my stories as best as I can. So, long story short, I was wondering what are the commons sayings of Southern Australians? And if you have a site that is accurate, could you link me please? I know that there are words for bar such as pub and boozer. I want to be sure I have it righti n the correct context. I am activly trying to be a writer on her way to being published. What are common things to say when you are:
Happy
Sad
Scared
Angry
Worried
Words for pain. We say 'Ouch,' or "ow!"
Thank you :)

Answer
Hello H.P.,
The Aussie's do have a lot of slang, and it would take hours to explain it and list it all. I have not heard slang for the words you have listed. The links below list slang in alphabetical order.

I hope this helps.

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
