Question
Greetings Frank,
My husband and I will be exploring Australia this October - December.  We arrive in Brisbane mid-October and have 4 days planned there.  We also wanted to see Mt. Tamborine/Lamington Nat'l Park/Currumbin Bird Sanctuary & David Fleay Wildlife Park (near Burleigh Heads, I believe).  We wanted to focus on Brisbane, the city & local environs, during our initial 4 days.  But, after leaving Brisbane we are heading North to Port Douglas then working our way down the coast on a bus (Greyhound).  We are wondering if there is a base (Gold Coast, Burleigh Heads, etc.) nearer the 4 'attractions' I have listed where we could get public transportation for day trips to these sites.  Or, if this is totally unworkable, I would, of course, appreciate knowing that as well!!  We thought we could see Currumbin & Fleay the same day then maybe (hopefully) another long day which would allow us 2-3 hours to walk around near O'Reilly's or Bunna Burra at Lamington.  Any advice you can give would be most appreciated.  Thank you from Shell Lake, Alaska!!

Answer
G'day again,
There is no public transport to Binna Burra or similar places that I could find out about. However, Binna Burra run a bus to their lodge every day from Nerang train Station. The bus goes up in the morning, but does not return until the next day, so you have to stay there the night. The bus then takes you back to Nerang Station the next morning. That is the only option available that I could find out about. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Frank & Sue

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
