Question
I have an irish passport (born South Africa 1968) and my wife born and bred English. I work in IT as software analyst programmer.. I know I have at least 60 points! However I have recently been made bankrupt and want a new life and do not want to consider South Africa and have always fancied Australia. Anyway my question is are there many jobs in Queensland and where do I start looking? Do I give myself a year and if so does that mean I should only apply for a job 3 months before hand? I have checked all manner of web sites and no one mentions bankruptcy.

Answer
G'day Rob,
My son in law works in IT, and there are always jobs available. The best place to look is -  http://www.seek.com.au   This should give you a view on what is available. The Australian Government web site www.australia.gov.au and www.australia.gov.au/365 will be of assistance too.

The issue of bankruptcy is not an area I have a lot of knowledge on. However, speaking with friends, it will become an issue if you try to start a business in Australia, or to try and get a loan.  I hope this helps.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
