Australia/Planning a visit to Australia

Question
Hi.  I'm planning a trip to Australia in October 2007.  I will be there for 7 days and plan on staying in Brisbane.  The first places I would like to visit are the Australia Zoo and also the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.  I would like to feed and/or swim with the dolpins but I'm not sure how far I would have to go to do this?  What other places should I visit while I'm in Brisbane?  I'm very confused on the public transportation and want to make sure that there is a way for me to get to and from places like the Australia Zoo without costing an arm and a leg.  Thanks for any help and insight you can give me into this exciting adventure.

Answer
G'day Shannon,
Sorry for the delay but I have had computer problems.

Australia Zoo and Lone Pine can be reached by Public Transport, and wont cost an aram and a leg. Australia Zoo is about 50 miles from Brisbane, and you can catch a Train to Beerwah station, and then catch the free bus provided to get from the train to the zoo.  A Brisbane City council bus goes to Lone Pine zoo. To feed the dolphins you have to go to Tangalooma on Moreton Island.
It is not a cheap tour though
These links will give you all the info you need. http://www.tangalooma.com/dolphinweb/

Other places to see are the Museum, Botanic Gardens, South Bank, Mt Cootha Lookout, City Cat ride on Brisbane River (day rover ticket).

I hope this helps. Contcat me again if you require any more info.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
