Question
My partner and I will be travelling to Sydney and Auckland in October.  What to pack for the weather?  Speaking to people some say take summer clothes some say jackets?  Help?  I gather I should probably layer.  Your expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Layering is a good idea for that time of year, as October is their spring - you'll find it chillier in the mornings and evenings, but warmer throughout the day.  If you bring a good sweater, sweatshirt or jacket with you for the cooler parts of the day, you should be fine.  I do recommend bringing at least one pair of "colder weather" clothing in case you hit a cold spell, but otherwise layering will work.

In Sydney, average temperatures are generally a high of 72 F, and low of 56 F.  That said, it will be cooler in the beginning of October, and warmer near the end of the month as you approach Summer.

In Auckland, it will be cooler - average October temperatures are a high of 63 F, with a low of 52 F.

Hope this helps!
