Question
Hi Frank, would like to ask for your opinion that after i leave Brisbane, should i go Hervey Bay or Gold Coast for whale watching trip? I understand that H.Bay take abt 4-5 hrs drive from Brisbane, Gold coast is only an hour drive, but there are very wellknown for whale watching than Gold Coast. So i cant decide which to go.

Answer
G'day Jayne,
I was in Hervey Bay last week, and it took me 3 hours from the north side of Brisbane to get there. You would add 30 mins if you were leaving from the city.

Hervey Bay does have a very good reputation for whale watching, and I have had friends leave from Hervey Bay and say the trip was great. I am sure the Gold Coast whale watching would still be a very professionally run tourist attraction.  Both will be good, depends if you want to drive for the extra 2 hours. If you are tight for time, go to the Gold Coast. If you have the time, go to Hervey bay, and see a few sights on the way up or back.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
