Australia/customs

Question
Hi Ian,
I am from California and about 3 years ago I met a gal from Tasmania. We have become very good friends and over the last few years we have sent each other things about our country, etc. However, Customs goes through the boxex I send and they take what is not allowed. My question is: how can I find out what I am allowed to send and not send. Would this apply to her when she sends things to me? I have emailed countless places and have not heard a word from anyone. Surely there is a list that can be had for me to send to Australia and a list for her to send to me in the states. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Joanie

Answer
This is out of my area of expertise but I will try for you.  I would suggest that you get on to Google and try for H.M. Customs Australia (the H.M. stands for Her Majesty's - we haven't gotten rid of them yet!).  That should get you into links as to what you can and cannot send.
Hope this helps you and have a Merry Xmas.
Cheers, Ian
