Australia/from goldcoast to Great Barrier Reef

Question
Four of us will be in Gold coast from 23Dec 5PM till 27DEc evening.
We didnot anticipate this trip in time . While booking flights Gc to Cairns now, price is prohibitive .
Donot not know which cruises can be contacted to go to see best part of great barrier reef from GC and return back say in 2 days 1 or 2 nights max. Could you kindly give some advice. Many thanks

The time frame you have on the Gold Coast does not leave you much time to see the reef, however, it can still be done. I suggest you go to Lady Elliot Island, which is the closest part of the reef to you. You can get a small plane and can land you on the island, giving you time to stay there a night or just do a day trip.
