Question
Hiya, My partner and i are moving to Brisbane in feb.  We have 7 children also we are so happy to move there. The only concerns we have are the snakes and spiders in which we have heard alot about. Do we need to be really concerned about the safety of ourselves and especially our kids.I don't want to put my children in a situation where they are constantly worrying about this. Your help on this matter would be so grateful to us..

Answer
G'day Cheryl,
If you are moving to the suburbs of Brisbane, you will not have any worries. Very few Snakes are seen in the main part of Brisbane. If you moved to a rural area, you would then see snakes. As for spiders, if you keep your place clean, and do not leave rubbish lying around the yard you will have no problems. The dangerous spiders like old bits of wood and tin to hide under so you just have to keep your area tidy and clean. You may get small spiders inside the house from time to time, but they are usually tiny, and not dangerous ones.

We also get our house sprayed for spiders yearly, which helps.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
