Answer
G'day again David,
I did some checking and the road to Alice from Brisbane is ok. It is sealed to Boulia and then is is unsealed until you reach the Stuart Highway.

I got some maps for you, so when you get closer to your trip, send me an address in Australia I can send them to.

The other thing to consider is the time of year you intend driving to Alice. The wet season finds a lot of the roads closed.

The suggested route is - Brisbane - Toowoomba - Roma - Charleville - Barcaldine - Longreach - Winton - Bouila - then Alice Springs. The map from Bouila to Alice Springs will arrive later next month, and I will give you a more detailed route from Boulia to Alice Springs. The big map does not show many options though once you leave Boulia.

Regards,
Frank

Expertise

I have lived in Brisbane all my life (53 years). I am very proud of our city and the Sunshine State of Queensland. I am happy to help in any way possible. Queensland is a very humid and hot place in Summer, which makes it great for outdoor fun.

Experience

I have a great love and knowledge of Brisbane and the surrounding areas. I holiday on the Sunshine Coast every year, and visit the Gold Coast numerous times during the year for work. We love to dine out, and can recommend many places to try in Brisbane and the Coasts.
